iGD8 (improved Global D8)

  • Automatic algorithm to extract surface flow paths from a given DEM without artificial dispersion.

DESE (Dynamics Earth Surface Environment)

  • DESE is a developed model based on LEGS that takes into account feedbacks among human, surface hydrology, topography, and vegetation. This is a protoype and we are currently working on advanced version.

  • Most recent reference: Paik, K. and W. Kim (2021) Simulating the evolution of the topography–climate coupled
system, Hydrology and Earth System Sciences, Vol.25, Issue5, pp.2459–2474, doi:10.5194/hess-25-2459-2021.

  • This work was supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea(NRF) grant funded by the Korea government(MSIT) (No. 2018R1A2B2005772)

LEGS (Landscape Evolution model using Global Search)

  • LEGS is the first whole landscape evolution model that uses GD8 algorithm. Later version of LEGS is published in
2021 which can handle co-evolution of local climate and topography.

MoRE (Multiobjective modeling framework for Riverscape Exploration)

  • I first developed GLE (Genetic Landscape Evolution) as an optimization algorithm which can handle a 4-d
optimization problem where 3-d topography varies over time. Later, the model has been rebuilt as a multi-objective
    framework, named MoRE.

optimization model to generate on-DEM Optimal Channel Networks, Water Resources Research, Vol.54, Issue8,
    pp.5727–5740, doi: 10.1029/2018WR022977.

Seasonal Tank model

  • Lumped rainfall-runoff simulation model that considers seasonal variations on its parameter set.

considering seasonal variation, Hydrological Processes, Vol.19, Issue19, pp.3837-3850, doi: 10.1002/hyp.5984.
